FOUNDATIONAL CONNECTION (Chapter 3 From Book, Speaking of Love, by Fred and Anna Kendall)
"And since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let each exercise them accordingly..." - Romans 12:6a
"For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another." - Romans 12:4-5.
KINETIC (ACTING) LIFE LANGUAGEGS
THE MOVER LANGUAGE™ (PROPHECY)
"...Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9. Movers see things in black and white, right and wrong. They have a special ability to discern motives in people. They do not hesitate to point out wrong in others or admit wrong in themselves. They look for immediate change in others. Movers should realize that it is not up to them to change people. Otherwise, they get discouraged like Elijah after Mount Carmel and John the Baptist when he was in prison. The Greek word for prophecy in Romans 12 is propheteia (propheteia) and means prediction, insight, and discernment. Paul realized that the standard Movers must bear is Scriptural conviction by faith. He used the Greek word pistis (pistiV) meaning "from persuasion, credence, conviction, assurance, belief, and trust."
THE DOER LANGUAGE™ (SERVICE)
"I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13. Doers have a keen ability to see the practical things that need to be done and doing them. They are diligent and take the initiative. In Romans 12, Paul uses the same Greek word diakonia (diakonia) that we use for deacon, elder, and minister. Diakonia means attendance, aid, and service. "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called benefactors.' But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves." - Luke 22:25-26.
EMOTIVE (FEELING) LIFE LANGUAGES
THE RESPONDER LANGUAGE™ (MERCY)
"But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him, and His righteousness unto children's children." - Psalms 103:17 "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy." - Matthew 5:7 The Greek word for mercy is eleeo (eleeo) meaning to be compassionate by word or deed specifically by divine grace. God knew that one of the challenges sensitive people would face was depression. So Romans 12:8 directs "he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness." ("...With genuine cheerfulness and joyful eagerness" - Amplified Version)" The Greek word for cheerfulness is hilarotes (hileroteV) from which we get the word hilarious.
THE INFLUENCER LANGUAGE™ (EXHORTATION)
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching- Hebrews 10:24-25 The Influencers are life's cheerleaders who want everyone to be encouraged and have a full meaningful life. Their greatest joy is being able to help people live up to their full potential. The Greek word in Romans 12:8 for exhorter is paraklesis. (paraklesiV) and means to comfort, console, exhort, or encourage. Exhortation in Greek is parakaleo (parakaleo) and means to call near for help.
COGNITIVE (THINKING) LIFE LANGUAGES
THE SHAPER LANGUAGE™ (ADMINISTRATION)
"For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you -" - Titus 1:5 Administrators are born leaders, facilitators, organizers, and superintendents. The Greek word here is proistemi (proistemi) and means to practice, maintain, be over, rule, stand before, and preside. They love to dig in' and develop, schedule, and organize anything they are in charge of. They bring together raw materials, resources, and people to produce the desired results.
THE PRODUCER LANGUAGE™ (GIVER)
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, have an abundance for every good work." - II Corinthians 9:8 Producers have an innate tendency to be observant to available resources and use them wisely. They love to be generous, but do not like to waste anything. Producers do not give out of emotionalism. They are alert to the needs of others and give to meet those needs. The Greek verb used in Romans 12 is metadidomi (metadidomi) and means to give over, to share, to impart. Paul also describes how the Producer should give. The Greek word is haplotes (haploteV) and means "with sincerity (without expecting return or selfish gain), generously, and bountifully.
THE CONTEMPLATOR LANGUAGE™ (TEACHER)
"For even if I should boast somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord gave us for edification and not for your destruction, I shall not be ashamed." - II Corinthians 10:8 "Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning." - Proverbs 9:9 The Contemplator likes to research little known facts about anything that catches his interest. He also validates the accuracy and truth of teachings, authors, and others against the truth of Scripture. Contemplators love to teach and share their knowledge, when asked. They usually will not volunteer information. The Greek word used in Romans 12 is didaskalia (didaskalia) and means instruction of information, doctrine, learning, and teaching.
