Jesus commanded us to honor marriage. "Have you not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." (Matthew 19:4-6)
Paul the Apostle reinforced this commandment in Ephesians 5:31-33 and 1 Corinthians 7:10-13. God, in Malachi 2:16 said that He hates divorce (putting away).
In our "modern" society, people are attempting to redefine marriage. If we are not DOERS OF THE WORD, they may succeed. We must make a BOLD STAND FOR MARRIAGE.
Those who hate the traditional family are bound to sensuality. It is the basis of their entire lives. On average, they go through six "life-time" partners in the course of their lives.
Christians understand that Love is defined as, "Giving to other's basic needs without having as my motive personal reward." (1 Corinthians 13:3) (1 John 4:7-8) Married couples stay together because of love and loyalty. Loyalty is defined as, "Using difficult times to demonstrate my commitment to God and to those whom He has called me to serve." Jesus said, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)
What can we do to make a stand? First, we can pray specifically that those in leadership will cherish and protect the traditional (godly) definition of marriage. Second, we can make our wishes know to those in leadership.
Boldly proclaim God's Word to this generation. Make a stand to protect you and your family. Contact your representatives and tell them your convictions.
